Joel is a writer/director and a recipient of the Alfred P. Sloan Production Grant for Hanger’s Limb, which was a Semi-Finalist for the Student Academy Awards and won the Best Student Film Dramatic < 40 min at the 2020 Raw Science Film Festival. He holds Master’s degrees from the Academy for Classical Acting at the Shakespeare Theatre and George Washington University and USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. His scripts have placed in several screenwriting competitions; most recently the Nashville Film Festival, Austin Film Festival, and the Academy Nicholl Fellowship. Joel recently directed the short film, Plenty of Fish, which will premiere at the Portland Comedy Film Festival.
